Apple has shared a five minute recap of its Platforms State of the Union presentation at WWDC 2024.

Highlights
1. Introduction of Apple Intelligence: A personal intelligence system bringing powerful generative models to iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, enhancing user actions with rich personal context awareness.
2. Writing Tools Integration: Standard UI frameworks now include Writing Tools, with a new TextView delegate API for customization.
3. Genmoji and Image Playground API: New communication methods and playful, consistent experiences for users.
4. Swift's 10th Anniversary: Celebrated for its safety, speed, approachability, and C/C++ interoperability, making it a compelling choice for performance-sensitive and secure code.
5. SwiftUI Enhancements: Improved code sharing across devices, with new customizations and a dynamic linking architecture for previews and build-and-run consistency.
6. Xcode 16 Enhancements:
• Generative Models Integration: Major improvements in code completion with a new predictive engine running locally on your Mac.
• Swift Assist: A powerful model running in the cloud to assist with coding tasks, API exploration, and idea experimentation.
• Productivity Features: Single view of backtraces, "flame graph" for profiling data, and enhanced localization catalogs.
7. New Controls API: Allows controls to toggle settings, execute actions, and deep link to specific experiences. Controls can now be assigned to the Action button or appear on the Lock Screen.
8. App Icons and Widgets Customization: Icons and widgets can now appear in Light, Dark, or with a Tint, preserving design intent and legibility.
9. Gaming Enhancements:
• Apple Silicon Advancements: Macs, iPads with M-series chips, and iPhone 15 Pro can now handle high-performance games.
• Game Porting Toolkit 2: Improved compatibility with Windows games, AVX2, and advanced gaming features like ray tracing.
10. visionOS and Spatial Computing: Developers are building incredible spatial apps for visionOS, with examples like the djay app, leveraging SwiftUI and spatial computing opportunities.
