The new interface in ATV11 is terrible now "watched or unwatched, no information other than title and poster is available for any movie... All the info and imageless was formerly a "scroll through". I hate this interface and it takes twice as long (or longer, to find the movie i was looking for, but if I make the wrong selection the process starts again. I have 1670 movies on my ATV, nothing was wrong with the previous interface which allowed much quicker browsing and selection from the library. Reversion is futile as Apple will stop supporting TVOS 10.x soon, and unlike old computers this will wreck the system again. C'mob Apple... at least give us the option of interfaces. Make it usable over someone else's idea of "pretty".

I hate iTunes and now I hate ATV along with some of the proprietary apple hardware. I hate losing iTunes libraries and I hate having to fix things every bloody time there is an iTunes update.

All: you need to check to see if you have any saved shsh blobs / signatures / firmware on your apple tv. If not, then you cannot downgrade your firmware. Firmware 5.3 now available for untethering via season pass http://blog.firecore.com

I just got an Apple TV2 running 5.3 which should allow a tethered JB, can I downgrade to 5.2 or similar to get an untethered JB? Can I use the 5.2.0 firmware above to do this?

You need to donload an older version of ITunes, the newest version of ITunes doesnt alowe software downgrades.I recoment Itunes 10.6 or 10.7. Install Tip:Install ITunes. Go to the Start Button (lower Left Corner of your monitor) and search for iTunes Library.itl. Delete this Item. ITunes should now work normalley. If you dont do this,ITunes will prevent the software downgrade.

He's not randomly posting it. The lasting version of the Apple TV software has rendered Home Sharing and other features useless for a lot of people. So he's trying to help.

I wonder if the firmware builds are generation specific like they are with the iOS devices. I have an Apple TV (1 year old) from previous generation; could I deploy this new 4.2.0 AppleTV software to it? Does it have a different version of 4.2.0 for the older generations?

suave100 - December 15, 2009 at 9:40am
so, if you create the patchstick with 3.0.1 firmware (from iClarified) and install with Apple TV (already upgraded to 3.0.1), the install process is smooth but nothing works except that you see "Software Menu" and if you click on any menu item, nothing happens! So i factory restored my Apple TV to 2.0 and used an older firmware 2.x to create the the patchstick and it works like a charm.

Jon - December 26, 2009 at 9:09pm
Can you update to 3.0.1 after? Or do you have to stick with 2.4 for it to work? I am having the same issue with the "Software Menu". I wonder if there is going to be a fix for this soon...

Im trying to find the OS-dot-DMG 1.0.dmg, i have found it via rapidshare, but its two files ending with OS-dot-DMG 1.0.dmg.MD.zip .001 and OS-dot-DMG 1.0.dmg.MD.zip .002. Can anyone help me how to combine this files, i dont understand how. Or even better, if there is any other place to download the OS-dot-DMG 1.0.dmg file, need this to get the file sharing working in atv 3.0 Nito. Thanks.

.001 and .002 extentions are for hjsplit. Do a search for that and use it to join the 2 files together.

When attempting to create the ATV USB drive it stalls on the second, "copy files to target disk." I've tried three USB drives. Any help? Here's the text: 2Z694-5660-029-1.dmg selected Extracting boot.efi ... Extracting recovery seed ... extracting atv_recv.zip Creating USB Flash Disk... umount_disk settling delay (10 seconds) partition the target disk umount_disk settling delay (10 seconds) install recovery onto target disk copy files to target disk

This 404 is driving me crazy. I've tried using the mesu.apple link that has been mentioned here and on a few other sites but my mac cannot access it. For whatever reason it's a dead link on my PC. Anyone else having this same problem?

When I download the dmg file on my Mac it converts the dmg into what it calls OSBoot. This of course isn't recognised by the atvusb-creator as it's only looking for a dmg file and given that the OSBoot file contains a few other things how do I get the straight dmg file? Look forward to a solution.

looks like 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3.1 were all recently taken down, 2.3 is still up for some reason although i doubt it will be for much longer once they realize the oversite.

Has any one got a signature file for version 2.1? I'm trying to downgrade to 2.1 via replacing the image atv has downloaded for 2.4 with 2.1 (do have the image), but seems as if the update process checks the signature
