To make the switch: 1. Download or update to version 9.8.011 of Google Translate from the App Store. 2. Open the Settings app. 3. Go to Apps > Default Apps > Translation. 4. Select Google Translate as your default.
The ability to change your default translation app was introduced with iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4, as part of Apple's efforts to comply with the EU's Digital Markets Act. Google added support for the feature in today's update.
What's New In This Version: • You can now set Google Translate as your default translation app on iOS and iPadOS 18.4 and later. To set it up, go to the Settings app > Apps > Default Apps > Translation, and choose Google Translate. • Several bug fixes and usability improvements
