iPhone 18 Pro Models to Feature Under-Display Face ID, Keep Same Display Sizes [Rumor]

Apple is testing new displays for its iPhone 18 Pro models that would feature under-display Face ID, according to a new rumor from leaker Digital Chat Station. The move, expected for the fall 2026 lineup, would leave just a single hole-punch for the front camera.

In a post on Weibo, the leaker states that Apple has two new screens in development for the iPhone 18 Pro series: a 6.27-inch LTPO display and a 6.86-inch LTPO display, both with a resolution around 1.5K. The design will allegedly use a "HIAA single-hole screen," with the Face ID components moved under the display.

"The iPhone 18 Pro series currently has two new screens in development: one is a 6.27" ±1.5K LTPO, and the other is a 6.86" ±1.5K LTPO. It's a HIAA single punch-hole screen design, with Face ID processed to be under the display. The technology is getting aggressive [Not simple at all]."


This new information aligns with a previous report from The Information, which also claimed that Apple plans to embed Face ID sensors under the display for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. That report suggested the move would leave just a single hole-punch for the front camera, which would be repositioned to the top-left corner of the screen. Another leaker also corroborated the under-display Face ID rumor earlier this year.

This design is seen as a key step toward Apple's ultimate goal of a true all-screen iPhone. Other reports have suggested the company is working on a bezel-free design for 2027 that would feature both the camera and sensors completely hidden under the display.
According to a multi-year iPhone roadmap allegedly leaked by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 18 Pro models are slated for a fall 2026 release, arriving alongside Apple's first foldable iPhone.
