A new report from Macworld claims to have details on the color options for the entire iPhone 17 lineup, corroborating recent rumors and adding new information based on Pantone color references. The report suggests Apple will differentiate its standard and 'Air' models with distinct palettes, while also introducing new finishes for the Pro series.
The standard iPhone 17 is expected to come in Black and White, alongside four new colors: Steel Gray (Pantone 18-4005-TPG), Green (Pantone 2282 U), Purple (Pantone 530 U), and Light Blue (Pantone 658 U).
The iPhone 17 Air, which is rumored to replace the Plus model with an ultra-thin design, will reportedly come in Black, a brighter White, a lighter Light Blue (Pantone 657 U), and a Light Gold (Pantone 11-0604 TPG Gardenia). The report notes the less saturated colors for the Air model are intended to emphasize its lightweight feel, with the blue shade said to resemble the Sky Blue of the M4 MacBook Air.
For the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, the report points to two new colors: Dark Blue (Pantone 19-4025 TPG Mood Indigo) and Orange (Pantone 1501243 TCX Papaya). The Dark Blue is said to be similar to the Blue Titanium on the iPhone 15 Pro, while the orange will reportedly have a "fluorescent" look. The Pro models are also expected to return in Black, White, and a Gray similar to the current Natural Titanium. The change in finish is attributed to the rumored switch from titanium back to an aluminum frame for the Pro models. This leak supports an earlier rumor that suggested Apple was prototyping a Sky Blue finish and another that pointed to a copper or orange option.
These new colors will accompany other significant changes expected for the iPhone 17 lineup, including a new wide camera bar design for the Pro models, a more powerful A19 chip, and a jump to 12GB of RAM on most models to support more advanced on-device AI. Apple is expected to unveil the new lineup in September 2025.
