Apple Releases Xcode 26 Beta 7 With Claude Sonnet 4 and GPT-5 AI Assistants [Download]

Apple has released the seventh beta of Xcode 26 to developers for testing. The new build introduces integrated support for Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4 and OpenAI's new GPT-5 model, delivering on the AI coding assistant features previewed at WWDC.

The updated Xcode now officially includes support for Claude, allowing developers to connect their paid Anthropic accounts and use the Claude Sonnet 4 model directly within the IDE. The integration follows reports from earlier this year that Apple was working with Anthropic to build an AI "vibe-coding" assistant for Xcode, and a broader announcement at WWDC that Apple would add LLM integration to Xcode 26.

The beta also brings OpenAI's latest models to the platform. Developers using ChatGPT in Xcode can now choose between GPT-4.1 and the new GPT-5, which is set as the default. The release notes detail two options for the new model: "GPT-5" for quick results on most coding tasks and "GPT-5 (Reasoning)" for more complex problems that require the model to spend more time thinking.


Coding Intelligence - New Features
