Apple has announced that NBA 2K26 Arcade Edition is set to launch on Apple Arcade on October 16. The highly anticipated title brings a new 'NBA Eras' mode that lets players relive the league's history, alongside updates to MyCAREER and the latest authentic rosters.
The new 'NBA Eras' mode allows fans to build their own teams and play through different decades of the sport, starting with the legendary rivalry between Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. In MyCAREER, players can now use templates to craft builds based on pros like Vince Carter, Allen Iverson, or the new cover athlete, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The mode also includes multiplayer games.
"Working on NBA 2K26 Arcade Edition has been an absolute blast, and we're thrilled to unveil our latest feature, NBA Eras," said Rebecca Chan, Visual Concepts' general manager. "Starting with the legendary Larry Bird vs. Magic Johnson era, players can relive decades of drafts, championships, and create some epic highlight tapes with the GOATs."
The announcement also included updates for other titles on the service. On September 30, TMNT Splintered Fate will get an expansion with a new playable character, Metalhead. Following that, on October 2, three new games will join the catalog: Thomas & Friends: Let's Roll+, Dominoes: Classic Tile Game+, and Piffle+.
The new games are part of Apple's ongoing push into gaming, which recently saw the launch of a new Apple Games app to centralize a user's library.
Apple Arcade is available for $6.99 per month and is also included with Apple One's monthly plans. Customers who purchase a new Apple device receive a free three-month trial.
