Evolution Robotics is working on an iPhone application which detects objects in your pictures and returns information about them.

This technology allows you to take a quick picture of an object with your iPhone and then have the picture analyzed. The object is then matched and you are returned any information available.

In the video below you can see the underlying technology being demonstrated. A picture is taken of the Finding Nemo DVD cover and data is returned about the movie. You can even watch a preview through the YouTube app on your iPhone or buy the soundtrack through iTunes.
