Apple has released the Release Candidate (RC) of macOS Tahoe 26.2 to developers, signaling that the update is essentially finished and nearing public rollout. This build carries the version number 25C56.
The update's standout addition is Edge Light, a new tool meant to help in low-light video calls. Using the Neural Engine, macOS finds your face in the frame and brightens the edges of the display to mimic a ring light. It works in FaceTime and popular apps like Zoom, and you can fine-tune color warmth and brightness to match the room you're in.
macOS 26.2 also brings a handful of refinements that mirror changes introduced on iOS. The Podcasts app now auto-generates chapters using AI and lets you jump to mentioned shows directly from the player. Reminders gains a simple but useful "Urgent" option for high-priority tasks.
The RC follows last month's release of macOS Tahoe 26.1, which introduced the new Tinted variations of the Liquid Glass interface.
Developers can install today's RC through the Apple Developer Center or by checking Software Update in System Settings.
