Apple is brightening the London skyline this month with a set of iPad-created Christmas trees now being projected onto the facade of Battersea Power Station. The display marks the reveal of the 24 winners of Your Tree on Battersea, a public creativity competition hosted by British comedian Munya Chawawa.
The projections run daily from 5:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. through December 24, lighting up the landmark with designs from the winning artists as well as contributions from well-known figures including Kylie Minogue, Sir Stephen Fry, Maro Itoje, Oliver Jeffers, David Shrigley, and Chawawa himself.
In comments shared by Apple, Chawawa described hosting the campaign as a "full-circle moment," recalling childhood weekends spent drawing on display iPads at Apple Stores. Several winners also reflected on the inspiration behind their work, from cozy winter textures to the excitement of experiencing a British Christmas for the first time.
This year's competition extends a tradition of holiday installations at the power station, now home to Apple's UK headquarters. In recent years, David Hockney created a series of iPad Pro Christmas trees for the site, and Aardman Animations used an iPhone to produce a short film projected onto its 101-meter-tall chimneys and wash towers.
