Apple TV has officially picked up "Beat the Reaper," a new dramedy series starring and executive produced by BAFTA Award winner and Emmy Award nominee Will Poulter. Based on the novel by Josh Bazell, the project is being adapted for television by showrunner Sam Catlin, who previously worked on "Sugar" and "Breaking Bad."
The series stars Poulter as Dr. Peter Brown, a medical intern at a struggling Boston hospital with a secret past he intended to keep hidden. The plot is set into motion when a patient recognizes him, forcing Brown into an eight-hour race to elude government agents, mob hitmen, and a trail of dangerous adversaries. Hailing from Apple Studios and New Regency, the show will be executive produced by Catlin under his current overall deal with Apple.
This latest addition to the lineup follows a major rebrand of the service to simply Apple TV. The expansion is part of an aggressive strategy for the coming year, as executives recently confirmed a 2026 content plan that aims to release a new original series or film nearly every week.
