Apple Adds iPhone 11 Pro, Apple Watch Series 5, and Final Intel MacBook Air to Vintage List

Apple has updated its vintage and obsolete products list, adding several major devices including the iPhone 11 Pro and the entire Apple Watch Series 5 lineup. The update also officially marks the end of an era for the MacBook Air, as the final Intel-based model is now classified as vintage.



The 13-inch MacBook Air released in March 2020 had a surprisingly short shelf life. It remained on the market for just eight months before being replaced by the M1 model that launched Apple's transition to custom silicon in November of that year. With more than five years having passed since Apple last distributed it for sale, the device now qualifies as vintage.


The iPhone 11 Pro joins the list just a few months after the Pro Max model was added back in September. The update also covers every variation of the Apple Watch Series 5, including the aluminum, stainless steel, ceramic, and titanium casings, as well as the Nike and Hermès editions. Other additions include the 128GB iPhone 8 Plus and the cellular version of the third-generation iPad Air.

Apple considers a product vintage once it has been off sale for more than five years but less than seven. Owners of these devices can still obtain repairs from Apple or authorized service providers, though service is subject to part availability.

The company also moved the Mickey's 90th Anniversary Edition Beats Solo3 Wireless headphones to its obsolete list. Products are deemed obsolete once seven years have passed since they were last distributed for sale. Apple discontinues all hardware service for obsolete products, though Mac laptops may remain eligible for battery-only repairs for up to 10 years.
