Apple TV Shares First Look and Premiere Date for 'Criminal Record' Season 2

Apple TV has shared a first look and confirmed the premiere date for the second season of its critically acclaimed crime thriller, "Criminal Record." Starring Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo, the series is scheduled to return globally on Wednesday, April 22.



The eight-episode season will debut with its first installment, followed by one new episode every Wednesday through June 10. This release adds to a busy spring schedule for the service, which was recently rebranded to simply Apple TV. The launch aligns with the company's stated goal for 2026 to provide subscribers with new original content on a nearly weekly basis.


In the upcoming season, a young man is killed at a political rally, forcing rival officers DCI Daniel Hegarty and DS June Lenker into a tense alliance. What begins as a standard murder investigation eventually shifts into a dangerous undercover operation to stop a far-right bomb plot in London. The narrative continues to explore the complexities of policing in an era where the truth is often contested.

Capaldi and Jumbo return as executive producers and lead a cast that includes several new additions: Dustin Demri-Burns, Luca Pasqualino, Luther Ford, Lyndsey Marshal, and Peter Sullivan. Returning ensemble members include Shaun Dooley, Stephen Campbell Moore, and Charlie Creed-Miles.

Produced by Tod Productions and STV Studios, the series is created by BAFTA Award nominee Paul Rutman. Executive producers include Elaine Collins, Rutman, Capaldi, and Jumbo. This season's episodes are directed by Ben A. Williams and Joelle Mae David.
