Lamine Yamal Teases Unreleased Beats Over-Ear Headphones [Images]

Spanish football star Lamine Yamal has provided the first real look at an unreleased pair of Beats over-ear headphones. Arriving at training camp for the national team ahead of the World Cup, the winger was photographed wearing a bright pink headset with a distinctly new design.



The sighting follows a regulatory filing from last week that revealed an unreleased audio device in the U.S. Federal Communications Commission database. Carrying the model number A3577, the filing lacked photos or branding, leading to speculation over whether the hardware belonged to the AirPods or Beats lineup. Yamal's Instagram post confirms the headphones are a Beats product, prominently displaying the brand's signature logo on the side of the ear cups.


Apple appears to be moving away from the aesthetic established by the Beats Studio3 and the current Beats Studio Pro. The headphones worn by Yamal feature flatter exteriors on the ear cups and a completely reworked headband. Instead of a wide, flat plastic band that blends directly into the cups, this new model utilizes tubular telescoping arms that connect to an extruded section on the ear cushions. The structural shift shares some visual similarities with the stem mechanism found on the AirPods Max.



It is currently unclear what Apple plans to name the new hardware, though it is likely positioned as a successor to the Beats Studio Pro launched in 2023. Apple has frequently used athletes and celebrities to preview upcoming Beats products, suggesting an official launch may not be far off.

One open question is what processing hardware will power the new device. The current Beats Studio Pro uses custom Beats silicon rather than Apple's H-series chips. It remains to be seen which approach Apple will take with this upcoming over-ear model.
