Claims Open for Apple's $250 Million Siri AI Settlement

Eligible iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 buyers can now file a claim under Apple's $250 million settlement over delayed Siri features, according to the Smartphone AI Settlement website. The claim period opened September 21, 2026, for U.S. residents who purchased an eligible device in the United States between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025.

Covered devices include iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Claimants must be the original purchaser and must have bought the device for personal or business use rather than resale. They must also confirm that they expected to receive certain Siri Apple Intelligence features at the time of purchase and did not receive them.

A valid claim provides a payment of $25 per eligible device, although that amount may be adjusted up or down depending on the number of valid claims, eligible devices claimed and other factors. Payments are capped at $95 per device. The $250 million settlement fund will also cover notice and administration costs, taxes, attorney fees, litigation expenses and any service awards approved by the court.

The claim form asks for contact information and information sufficient to confirm purchase or ownership, typically the device serial number. Those without the serial number can instead provide their Apple Account email address and the phone number associated with the eligible iPhone. Claimants can elect to receive payment by physical or digital check, and a separate claim can be submitted for each eligible device.

The case, Landsheft et al. v. Apple Inc., was filed in the Northern District of California and alleges that purchasers were harmed by Apple’s failure to timely deliver certain Siri Apple Intelligence features. Apple denies the allegations and says it did nothing improper or unlawful. Both sides agreed to settle rather than continue through the costs and risks of a trial, after the company agreed to the $250 million fund in May.

The Siri capabilities at issue have since begun rolling out in beta as part of Apple’s OS 27 software releases, adding personal context, onscreen awareness and broader app actions. Siri AI remains a beta feature even though iOS 27 itself is no longer in beta.

Claims must be submitted online or postmarked by December 21, 2026. That is also the deadline to opt out of the settlement or file an objection. Eligible buyers may receive an email containing a claim ID and PIN, but a claim can still be filed without that information.

The court granted preliminary approval on July 17, 2026. Judge Noël Wise has scheduled a final approval hearing for February 24, 2027, to determine whether the settlement is fair, reasonable and adequate. If the settlement is approved, payments will be processed after any appeals are resolved. Class members who do nothing will receive no payment but will remain bound by the settlement and its release of claims against Apple.
