Apple Details New Creator Studio Features for Pixelmator Pro, Final Cut Pro, and Freeform

Apple has outlined a new round of Creator Studio updates spanning Pixelmator Pro, Final Cut Pro, Motion, Compressor, and its productivity apps. The additions range from more precise selections on iPad to editing Cinematic effects in regular iPhone 18 Pro footage.

Pixelmator Pro for iPad is gaining Select and Mask, the Mac tool for refining selections around difficult edges such as hair and fur. Mac and iPad users will also get two new template collections for sports and other projects, plus a Podcasts category with cover art sized for major platforms.

In Final Cut Pro and Motion on Mac, editors will be able to apply Cinematic mode effects to video captured natively on iPhone 18 Pro. Final Cut Pro will let them adjust focus points and depth of field in the timeline. Compressor will be able to convert footage with those effects to the previous Cinematic mode format and will add HEVC and MPEG-4 presets for social sharing.

For Creator Studio subscribers, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers are getting new templates and themes. Keynote's intelligent slide generation will also create images tailored to a presentation. Across the three apps, users will be able to request access to shared files. Pages for Mac adds Screen View for reading and focused writing, while Numbers adds trigonometry, statistics, and logic functions.

Freeform boards will adapt to Dark Mode, and folders will let users group boards and invite collaborators. The app will support rewriting, proofreading, and summarizing handwritten notes with Apple Intelligence Writing Tools, as well as access requests and Shortcuts automation for adding content. In visionOS 27, users will be able to pull multiple board items into their space and view 3D models together.

Apple launched the Creator Studio subscription in January, bundling its professional creative apps and premium productivity features. Today's announcement does not give a release date for each of the new features.
