zToggle lets you easily enable and disable multitasking and background wallpaper on your jailbroken iPhone 3G.
Toggles for Multitasking and Background Wallpapers. No need to use redsn0w or Pwnage tools to toggle Multitasking and Background Wallpapers. This app will let you do that in seconds right from your iDevice. Note that this app is only for iPhone 3G. Users for other devices like iPod Touch can try but at your own risk
zToggle is created by Razi Iqbal and can be downloaded free from the BigBoss Cydia repository.

Doesn't work all the way for me.
None of the background apps will run in the background, they still close out.. They show being in the background, but they don't continue to run
The issue you are facing may be that the iphones multitasking isn't really up to task yet. Only a few apps actually run in the background when you click out of them. Pandora is an example of an app that will do that. However, 90% of all apps aren't written yet for true multitasking and running in the background. So really all you are getting is a faster start up, and are saving maybe 1-2 seconds on bringing something up.
Actually, I should have been more specific..
When I first installed IOS4 multitasking worked ok. Now using this program, it does not.
Take Skype for instance..Its suppose to run in background, but it just closes.
Also now when I try to disable multitasking, it will not disable. It comes back every time.
thought it would make it run faster with MT disabled.. and still the Fking same.. i cant play tony hawk pro skater 2.. even in safe mod! i will need to go back to ios3 :(
try running no wallpapers, but MT on.
I got rid of my wallpaper shadows and it made a WORLD of difference, so i would imagine wallpapaers would speed it right up.
now if only there was a "stop making safari suck so much ram" fix
