iFixYouri has made a short video to remind users of what to do if they drop their iPhone in water.

If you don't know already, you should immediately power off the iPhone and place it in a sealed bag of uncooked rice.

Well, I got it totally wrong, i used rice pudding, never turned on since. then when apple looked at it with their light tool and look in the meshy holes for liquid damage, they even joked that it must have been abrosia creamed rice

Nice... I dropped my 3G in the bath tub last winter... Was hearing music, tried to fiddle around it with wet hands and SPLASH! Strange thing is, it literally didn't miss a beat! It just kept on playing, I heard the music in my ears and saw the display under water... Probably helped that the earphones were plugged in (and thus sealed one of the two big openings in the phone). I pullled it out of the water but never thought of rice - I first wrapped it in a blanket and put it on a moderately warm heater; later, I took it into my bed for the night... Only to give it my body warmth and sweat out any remaining water, I swear! I kept serving me faithfully... And the day I ordered my sleek new iPhone 4, my trusty 3G showed a bad pixel - eerie! :-|

I dropped my phone in the toilet and retrieved it within 3 seconds. The screen was not active when I dropped it in. I powered it up to see if it was ok (BIG mistake which i later learned about online) The screen turned on fine but within 2 seconds the whole thing went really dim. You could just see what was on the screen if you held it up to the light and looked at it from the side. Basically i figured i'd shorted out the backlight and was going to have to have pay x amount of $ to get it fixed. After this i got online and read that basically the 1st, 2nd and 3rd things you do when you drop it in water is 'DONT TURN IT ON'. Well all a bit late for that! So, I pulled the sim out and completely powered the phone off. I then put a hairdryer on one end and then the other, alternating every few mins. After 10 mins or so of doing this, I saw the Apple logo appear on the screen in full brightness! I was stunned as I was sure that from what i had seen so far, the backlight had blown. The whole phone was also fully powered off so to see anything happen on it was strange. Anyway, it stayed on for about 10 seconds and then went off for 15 seconds, and then came back on again. This cycle continued for about 5 more times of the Apple logo appearing in full brightness and then disappearing. I then put it down for a few hours in a warm spot to dry out anything else, and then turned it on that evening. 100% back to normal. This happened about 6 months ago and i haven't had any issues with it at all. Just shows that there must be some failsafe to disable the backlight when it gets wet to stop it from actually blowing. Immediately drying out the phone for 10-15 mins reverted the failsafe and all was well again. Have been meaning to share this story with the world and have finally found a good spot for it. Would be interested to hear if anyone else has the same success as I haven't seen my method blogged about anywhere online at all.

My iPhone 2G drop into toilet last year ... I took it ( nasty :D ) and didnt know what todo , i wash it with soap and running water and it turn off by it self . I tried using hairdryer , uncooked rice for about 2 week , the iphone back on but touch screen feature not working at all . . And i bought 2 bottles of 91 % alcohol at pharmacy , pout it on big jar and put my iphone inside . I can see the bubble coming from iphone . And after that for about 1 minutes my iphone turn on by it self , i was scare that something might exploded so i took it out and there is dripping alcohol from my iphone . But it work again :)

the real trick is to use instant rice or 10 minute rice, it has been cracked and has no husk on it, it is much more porous and will gather more liquid.

Tries this once with a cup of fried rice. Not the same, trust me!

i did this years ago, when i have problem with my watch :) and its work.. its really old school way to fix it now on iphone will work too?? nice !!!
