Geohot has just released his Limera1n jailbreak for Mac OS X. Limera1n supports the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G, iPad, and AppleTV (limited).
Remember if you require an unlock do not upgrade to iOS 4.1, you will need to wait for the next PwnageTool release. The only exception is the iPhone 4 which could be upgraded to iOS 4.1 without updating the baseband.

Jailbreak worked perfectly. i have a new 3gs, that is running(when i purchased it from apple) 4.1, new bootrom, 05.14.02, i used the mac download and it installed cydia the first time and i did not need to reboot. I deleted limera1n with cydelete after and that worked too. Thanks Geohot, it is working like a charm

I have an iphone4 with OS4.0.2. and broadband 01.59.00
If I use TinyUmbrella to update to 4.1 while keeping my broadband, can I still jailbreak it with Limera1n? Or will jailbreaking it force me to upgrade my broadband. I want to unlock it when the unlock becomes available.
thanks

If you are on Firmware 4.1 with baseband 1.59.00 then Limera1n will only jailbreak for you and will not affect your baseband. Baseband only updates when you upgrade to a higher firmware.

Thanks for the help. I'm going to update to 4.1 with TinyUmbrella and then jailbreak with Limera1n. Is there any benefit to wait for Pwnage to jailbreak or should I just use Limera1n?

To late, did it last night on a PC (Greenpois0n) and used TinyUmbrella to keep my old baseband. It took about 10 tries but finally it worked. Also PkgBackup worked great, installed all my cydia apps in a few minutes. I definitely recommend PkgBackup, easy.

If you bought a book and half the pages were glued together then jailbreaking is what unsticks the glue

So what is it that you value so much with the jailbreak on your iphone 4? Besides unlocking, what reasons do you have to jailbreak? Just curious, becuase i have only jailbroken to unlock which is essential for me...But besides that the jailbreak has not been useful to me.

It's not surprising to me, I have ran into so many people that don't even need a iPhone. They should just have a phone that text. I guess for a lot if people it's just a cool factor instead of actually using it like a computer that it is.
