Geohot has another untethered jailbreak exploit that he held back from Limera1n to prevent Apple from learning about it.
The exploit is at the iBoot level and could have been used to make Limera1n untethered; however, Geohot used @comex's untether for Limera1n so that his exploit could be saved for possible use in the future.
comex: @esemede he would have implemented his own untether, but that would be wasting an exploit
musclenerd: (translating that retweet of @comex: geohot has an iboot-level untethered exploit but held it back to conserve explioits)

Apple did change the business model of the cell phone industry. Apple turned the table on telecom providers by demanding ánd receiving the full price per phone up front with a minimum amount of phones to be purchased. That is why Apple has the highest profit in the cell phone industry while selling a fraction of the amount of handsets that, for instance, Nokia is selling. Go figure.
