Elliott Peters, Warner Music Group’s senior VP and head of digital legal affairs is leaving the company next month for a job at Apple, Billboard has learned.

The site obtained an internal memo that indicates Peters will become Corporate Attorney Director for iTunes Europe and Internet Services, based in Luxembourg.

Below is the full memo, sent by Paul Robinson, WMG General Counsel:

Dear Colleagues,

I want to share with you the news that Elliott Peters, our SVP and Head of Digital Legal Affairs, will be leaving us next month to take a position with Apple as Corporate Attorney Director for iTunes Europe and Internet Services, based in Luxembourg. Elliott will be managing the European iTunes legal team, including full legal support for iTunes’ various stores and MobileMe in Europe.

In 2000, Elliott left Shearman & Sterling to take on an M&A role in our legal department where he worked on a number of important corporate transactions regarding Columbia House Music and Video Clubs, Word Entertainment and Warner Bros. Publications. In 2003, Elliott became our first digital lawyer and began to build our exceptional Digital Legal Affairs team, now comprised of Jon Glass, Virginia Lockhart and Tucker McCrady. Since that time, Elliott has had a hand in almost every major WMG digital deal.

In May 2009, we had the very good fortune to hire Ron Wilcox as WMG's Executive Counsel, Business Affairs, Strategic and Digital Initiatives. In the last 18 months, Ron has already had a significant impact in leading our digital deal-making. In addition to his current responsibilities, upon Elliott's departure, Ron will oversee our Digital Legal Affairs team.

Please join me in thanking Elliott for the significant contributions he has made to the company during his tenure, and in congratulating Elliott on his new position and Ron on his additional responsibilities.

Paul
