Apple has unveiled a first look at "Widow's Bay," a new genre-bending series starring Emmy Award winner Matthew Rhys. The 10-episode horror-comedy is set to premiere globally on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
The show will debut with the first three episodes, followed by one new installment every Wednesday through June 17. This release adds to a packed schedule for the service, which was recently rebranded from Apple TV+ to simply Apple TV. It also aligns with the company's aggressive content strategy for 2026, following recent comments from executives promising a new original release nearly every week throughout the year.
In the series, Rhys plays Mayor Tom Loftis, a man desperate to revive his struggling community in a quaint island town off the coast of New England. While he battles spotty cellular reception and locals who believe the island is cursed, Loftis manages to turn the location into a tourist destination. However, the success brings trouble when decades-old superstitions and stories start coming true.
Hailing from Apple Studios, the series is created and showrun by Katie Dippold. Emmy winner Hiro Murai directs five episodes and serves as an executive producer through his banner Chum Films. The ensemble cast features Kate O'Flynn, Stephen Root, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Kevin Carroll, and Dale Dickey. Additional directors for the season include Ti West, Sam Donovan, and Andrew DeYoung.
