Student Sells First Spot in iPad 2 Line For $900 [Video]

Amanda Foote, a media studies student at Manhattan Community College, sold her spot in line for the iPad 2 for $900, according to a Mashable report.

Foote sat through an entire day of rain, had a stranger help himself to a box of doughnuts she was eating, and slept a total of 3 hours and 10 minutes in the time between when she got in line at 5 p.m. Wednesday and when she left it at 9:00 a.m. Friday. She plans to buy tickets to a Lady Gaga concert with the cash that she earned for her trouble.

The buyer was Hazem Sayed, an app developer looking to promote his company, Zami, and its latest app, AskLocal. Sayed is reportedly leaving the country on business this evening and wanted to have the device with him.

Uhm, let's see, $900 for 40 hours waiting in line, 900/40=$22/hr, better than my $9/hr wage, I would do it!

Brilliant. Considering that you said you got there sometime Wednesday evening, you probably spent AT LEAST 30 hours there (probably closer to 34 or 36). You just made less than $1 and hour. YAY!!!!

did you graduate first grade? going off the times noted on the article, they were there for 40hrs and if you divide $900 by 40, what do you get? $22.50 an hour. how on earth did you get less then $1 baffles me.
