I have this firmware in my iphone and i want to upgrade it only to 5.1 even though 6.1 is out. Is this even possible?

At the beginning of the article it says do not update firmware to 4.3.3. I checked my iphone 4 and I got firmware 4.3.3 already. My baseband version is 04.10.01 Does it change anything on the procedure?

That means itunes is not recognizing your iphone. Update your itunes to 10.2 version and then connect.

I downloaded windows 4.3.3 firmware but for some reason there is no iPhone3,1_4.3.3_8J2_Restore.IPSW file like you show in your text or utube explanation. There is a directory with full of files but none of them has the IPSW extention. The restore file is is quicktimepreferences link. So resn0w cannot find the IPSW file because it dosn't exist. Can you tell me how to find the iPhone3,1_4.3.3_8J2_Restore.IPSW file? Thanks very much for your help Best Nina

I got caught out by this too. If you downloaded using Internet Explorer trying downloading again using Firefox or Chrome. IE always seems to screw up the file extensions so it doesn't appear right. I tink there's a workaround if you only have IE but using Firefox is by far the easiest solution.

I want to jailbreak my Iphone4 , firmware 4.1, to the latest 4.3.3. I'ts jailbreaked and full of apps from Cydia. What do i need to do not to loose all my apps with the firmware upgrade? Do i need to upgrade the firmware in iTunes and then Jailbreak it or it doesn't need to update first? Cheers from Portugal :)

Just JB to 4.3.3, I haven't done a JB since 1st gen iphone, so i just have a quick quesstion. Everything is good so far, everything works and what not, but all my data is gone, music, contacts etc, is it safe to restore the data from a backup i have moments before i started the JB? It won't brick my phone will it?

Yup it's cool to back up from your old backup. It will restore all of your data.

i'm currently on 04.10.01.. can i jailbreak without having to upgrade my baseband? i'm worried i have to unlocked it after upgrade the baseband. anyone can advise?

Even "Carrier Reset fix" do not work to solve the problem. Seems to be an Jailbreak error. Also tried it with redsnow rc16. Any answers ??? (IPhone 4 BB 04.10.01 / IOS 4.3.3)

Find the answer : 1. reboot in DFU mode 2. after reeboot activate mobile with itunes und wait for network signal (if you jailbreak with redsnow before activation than the problem with no network occurs) 3. Backup your files from itunes to phone 4. jailbreak

I get the error 3194. i have iphone 4 4.3.3 and it says iphone could not be updated error 3194

the firmware file im downloading has no ipsw file attached where can i get my ipsw firmware?

Download the file again and put .ipsw at the end of the file. It's trying to make it a different file.

Well tried to jail break with 4.3.2, all went well expect after rebooting the phone is stuck saying error mounting rootfs - read only, it says giving up after trying for 6000ms. Any one encountered this. I have already tried run as admin / compatibility modes. Need help from you guys !!!

There is no .ipsw file to download... there is a 600+MB .zip file with no .ipsw files on it... another thing... my IOS is a 4.3.1 and I had been redirected to this 4.3.3 jailbreak page, is that correct? compatible? thanks

add .ipsw at teh end while downloading. then use that same firmware to upgrade your device and jailbreak it with this procedure. it works.

ok so i had version 4.2.1 and i accidently used this method withour updating my formware to 4.3.3. so today i restored teh phone and tried to jail break again using this method but it freezez while UPLOADING RAMDISK. and thats it. please help if you can... waiting anxiously!!!!

If you got stuck at uploading ramdisk, in Windows 7, choose Windows Vista compatibility in properties and Run As Administrator mode. It works for me.

i think the reason for the upload screen to be stuck is because the iphone modem firmware is too new...04.10.01 ver is not jail break able...it just means that ur iphone 4 is new compare to others...its not the IOS problem its the firmware being too new

I had problems with redsn0w on a win7 pc, got stuck like a lot of people here on ramdisk. Solution: Run redsn0w.exe in XP SP3 compatibility mode. (right click on redsn0w.exe >properties >run on XP SP3 compatibility mode)

As is evident from all the posts here, there are quite a few having the problem of being stuck on the uploading Ramdisk screen. Yes, I have tried to run RedSnow in compatibility mode and yes I have even set Afinity in the processes and yes I have even tried waiting for the non-existant Pineapple to show up before releasing the home button. This is not my first JB. I have been doing this for over 3 years and have Jailbroken and/or unlocked at least 40 phones since then and never had the need to ask for help - this time around it seems as I've come up against a brick wall and can't get past it. Can anyone please help?

the one on the bottom is correct: in Win7 64 bit the Redsnow need to be in compatible mode for XPSP2 (in the properties) and run as administratore.

Stuck at uploading Ramdisk. Tried holding home button down as you suggested but still no luck. Never get a pineapple. After going into DFU mode, the screen flashes white once and then the next thing that shows up on the iPhone is the hard disk with the words Downloading Jailbreak Data.... but it stays stuck on that. :(

see if this work on window 7 it work for me on 4.3.2 if ramdisk get stuck PLEASE open up the redsnow then hit ctrl+alt+Delete go to"start task manager" hit "application" tab look for resnow and right click on the redsnow and select"go to process" look for redsnow its highlighted right click on that and selcet "set Affinity" only select "cpu 01 " uncheck the rest of them then exit of the window task manager run the redsnow for jailbrake. Not for commercial use.

I am in 2.10 basband, when I upgrade from 4.2 to 4.3.2 I got error 1013 and the phone still under the itunes logo I used tinyumbrella to exit the recovery mode but its back again like nothing happened . Now my phone not working at all I just need help to just make it work and I don;t care now if go with Higher Basband cos I have At&T. Ps, Any one know where is the file (Host) in windows 7 operation system and what i need to change there to make it work...thanks 1000000000

Similar issue. JB went fine but I have lost AT&T carrier completely. iPhone 4; 4.3.3; used redsn0w 0.9.6rc15. Talked to AT&T but their reset did not help.

I tried to jailbreak my iPhone 4 4.3.2 using RedSn0w as this tutorial but the iTunes gives me a 1013 error and now my iPhone is in restore mode only. I tried to erase the gs.apple line on the hosts file, tried to restore in a different computer and tried to upgrade my iTunes for the latest version but nothing worked. What should I do?
