Apple has won a patent for the design of the iPhone 4 with Nitriding Stainless Steel Band.
Apple credits CEO Steve Jobs, VP Industrial Design Jonathan Ive and team members Bartley Andre, Freddy Anzures, Jeremy Bataillou, Imran Chaudhri, Daniel Coster, Daniele De Iuliis, Evans Hankey, Richard Howarth, Duncan Kerr, Shin Nishibori, Matthew Dean Rohrbach, Peter Russell-Clarke, Christopher Stringer, Eugene Whang and Rico Zorkendorfer as the inventors of Granted Patent D636,392, originally filed in Q3 2010.
Design patents like these are important to Apple's efforts in preventing copycat devices. Apple recently sued Samsung for allegedly copying the iPhone and iPad design.

Ya, especially the glass back. Real stroke of genius there. How about designing a replaceable battery that doesn't require me to pull the phone completely apart or maybe a memory card expansion slot like every other device has on earth. ;p
