Apple COO Tim Cook reportedly visited Samsung headquarters in South Korea recently to discuss the use of its OLED technology for the iPad 3, according to AsiaNewsNet.
"Apple wants to tap into Samsung's AMOLED technology for an upgraded version of the iPad2, considered as many as the iPad3 that is likely to be launched toward the end of this year," a source told The Korea Herald on Wednesday (May 25) on condition of anonymity.
Both John Gruber and TechCrunch have suggested that Apple might be planning the release another iPad in 2011.

apple just released the ipad 2. they're making millions of them, they're not going to release another one within a year, that'd be suicide for their sales of the ipad 2. and just because there's talk of updated technology that they'd like to use, doesn't mean it's coming in the same year it's talked about. they have to do R&D with it before they just throw it into the ipad. they need to thoroughly test and diagnostics and configurations to optimize battery power and design.

iPad2 was introduced ten months after the iPad and those things were flying off the shelf's iPad 2 was not suicide. Apple is not going to slow down on hardware upgrades until it knows that they are so far ahead that no company can compete and those companies just give up. Take the iPhone for example iOS runs on one platform and it took Android running on 60 different devices to take over market share. Apple has a huge following the only thing that would be suicide is for them not to make more hardware updates on their hottest devices.
