Microsoft today confirmed that it is planning an App Store for Windows 8. In a post on the Building Windows 8 blog, Steven Sinofsky lists App Store as one of the teams for the upcoming operating system.
Many of the teams listed below describe features or areas that you are familiar with or that you can probably figure out based on the name. As we post more, team members will identify themselves as part of these teams. We also have organized these teams in seven larger groups that pull related teams together-fundamentals, devices and networking, core OS, developer experience, user experience, web services, and our engineering system. The Windows Live group (Hotmail, Messenger, Skydrive, Photos, LiveID, and more) also has a similar structure. Internet Explorer group is also a couple of teams on its own, but obviously contributes across Windows 8.
● App Compatibility and Device Compatibility ● App Store ● Applications and Media Experience ● App Experience ...
While the name of the store is unclear, Microsoft is opposing Apple's attempt to trademark the terms 'App Store'.

As things on the sides of buildings, "windows" are incredibly generic. As things on computers, no they aren't. For a store that sells apps, "app store" is a completely generic and descriptive term.

Microsoft filed patent for "Windows". Now it is opposing patent for "App Store" for the reason it is a generic name, not a direct reference. Now look whos talking, isnt "Windows" even more generic than "App Store"?
Soon, everybody will have an "App Store". Google App Store, BlackBerry AppStore, Microsoft App Store, Nokia App Store .... who else wants to join the "App Store" bandwagon?

Why? Having app store is great idea why should MS ignore that? Or is it sacred since Apple got already one? Remember that still like 80% of computer users are Windows users - its massive market!

So when apple gains 80% of the market. Are apple customers stupid sheep? Or was it that microsoft had products that consumers thought were worth purchasing. Whether it was for necessity or affordability. Now apple looks to over take a dynasty. It still hasn't happened but I support any company that leads us to a more innovated future. And right now it's apple.
