Siri, the voice powered personal assistant from Apple, has been ported to the iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4G by @stroughtonsmith and @chpwn.
Have Siri connecting to Apple's servers on iPhone 4 after a hack session with @chpwn!
And we now have it working on @chpwn's iPod touch :-)
What amuses me is that I've boiled the entire Siri hack down to one line of code. (Plus a *ton* of filesystem changes)
Steve Troughton-Smith says he will release detailed information on how the port was performed after the iPhone 4S jailbreak is released.

Question:
Is there any way this would work on the 3GS or are there hardware issues? (SIRI originally worked well on the 3GS).

I bricked my 3gs yesterday trying to do the 1/2 siri port. the iPhone 4's N90AP.plist file text is not compatible with the 3GS N88AP.plist file required to write the siri gui code. I restored my 3GS and re-untethered jailbroke it (also noticed you can tether an untetherable device with the new redsnow)

What amuses me is the Airplane Mode indicator next to the wireless icon in @chpwn's iPod Touch screen capture :)

You also can notice he still has WIFI enabled, if you did not know you can have WIFI enabled while in airplane mode.

You can have airplane mode on and still use Wi-fi, if that's what you are wondering...

It should have been available on the iPad 2 with iOS5, but no, Apple will only put it on iPad 3, to give you an incentive to buy it.

Don't think this will ever get released to the public (due to copyright infringement issues).

Untethered will be for all ios5 devices due to the nature these exploits tend to be. Harder to find as well. The focus is always on the newer device for a good reason, so if you have a iphone 4, like me, just be happy to have the option to JB. They are doing this for free and no one has the right to be pissy about it. If you can do better/faster go ahead, thats what GeoHot did, he didnt complain on iClarified
