Pod2g has announced that the code signing bug Charlie Miller found in iOS 5 will make creating a jailbreak much easier and warns users not to update to iOS 5.0.1.
Note about 5.0.1 : don't update if you plan on jbking : the bug Charlie MILLER found can simplify exploits dramatically and will be closed.
Just two days ago, pod2g announced that he had found a vulnerability that could untether the jailbreak for iOS 5. At that time we were told not to expect a release soon; however, Miller's bug could speed up the timetable for release.

So what does that mean for those of us who are still on 4.3.3 because we didnt want to go to 5.0 without a JB ? Are we royally screwed now that its 5.0.1 and we haven't installed 5.0 ?

If you have an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 and are on the 4.3.3 Firmware, you MUST restore to the iOS 5.0 Firmware while Apple is still signing it. SHSH Blobs do not work on iOS 5.0. This means once they stop signing 5.0 (Any day now) You will NOT be able to upgrade or downgrade to iOS 5.0 (Until further notice, possibly never!).
While Apple has released 5.0.1, You can still put your iPhone into DFU mode and Alt+Click (Shift+Click for Mac) Restore to the iOS5 Firmware

It doesn't matter. the agreement dev-team made with Apple means there will NEVER be another meaningful software unlock released by them AND any jailbreak (outside of a buggy userland exploit of an OLD firmware) will be tethered for most of it's life.
Face it folks, Apple got to the only people who could do this reliably. It is what it is, and luckily Apple fixed a lot of the reasons to jailbreak anyway.
Sad, but it will NEVER be the way it was. Apple paid dev-team plenty. Believe me, I know. And before anyone wants proof, be ready to provide some proof I'm wrong. Apple reached out to them right about the same time jailbreaking was rendered officially legal.
I'm right. It's over.
Thanks for all they did, but it's OVER.

FINALLY somebody with a brain on here...... I also say they been taken under apples wing, but I still think JB will be out for iPhone 4s and iPad 2 so the sales of iPhone 4s can boom. Then in Jan or Feb final JB for iPhone 4 then that's the last of the era.

Used to be JailBreaking comes out really fast and works perfectly, now don't know why Dev Team are having a hard time. Just wondering...

How about you try jailbreaking a device without getting paid and see how long it will take you.

So if you're on a lower version, like in my case 4.3.3, should I update to iOS5 before the 5.01 comes out or am I able to upgrade to 5.0 after 5.01 comes out?

Also when the 5.0.1 comes out does this mean an END to JB???? Come on dev team you guys keep saying apple this apple that aren't you guys doing what they do "hush hush nothing being spoken not even hints" let the world know your a hoax. I am CALLING DEV TEAM out! Like I did on your twitter when you guys claimed NCK force and NEW unlocks for baseband and I asked about it and you said "we never claimed we had new unlocks for new base bands or close on brute force", and my answer was a repost of what you said with proof of links to go with it and somehow i was BANNED after couple of days.

So what you guys are saying is that............. YOU DIDN'T HAVE AN EXPLOIT AT ALL TIL THIS CAME ALONG??????? Watch all these knee pad lovers cuss me out, but before you do think about it ok, if they did have an exploit like they have claimed wouldn't they have said "Apple is going to release 5.0.1 we believe its a patch for the JB fix PLEASE DON'T UPDATE".... Which leads me to think there was no exploit at all found til this Miller guy came along.... Now dev team claiming this guys sleeper as their way to JB... LOOOOOOOOOOOL... Wait for it............................................. I TOLD YOU!!!!!!!
