Apple to Hire 500 Employees at European Headquarters in Ireland

Apple is reportedly planning to hire 500 new employees at its European Headquarters in Cork, Ireland, reports Reuters.

The consumer electronics giant will increase the headcount at its European headquarters in the southern city of Cork over the next 18 months from 2,800 at present, a spokesman for the company said. He said the jobs would "support our growing business across Europe," but he did not say what kind of jobs would be created. The Cork operation provides distribution, supply chain management and back office functions.

Ireland currently has an unemployment rate of 14.3% so this is definitely some welcomed news for the country.

Just two days ago, Apple's headquarters in Cork made the news when Greenpeace activists scaled the roof to protest the company's use of dirty energy at its data center.
