Despite being found guilty of copying the iPhone and iPad, Samsung continues to copy Apple's design.
Gizmodo points to their new S-Launcher that will be included with all their Windows 8 machines.
"Yes, it looks like Apple's own OS X dock, down to the glassy pseudo-3D tray that shows the reflection of the icons placed on it. In fact, it works just like OS X"
The S Launcher is also a launcher. Simply drag apps or files to it for easy access, tossing them off when you don't want them anymore. Nothing groundbreaking in that, but it doesn't hurt, either, and the icons are bigger than in the Windows taskbar.
What do you think? Is this another instance of Samsung ripping off Apple's design? Take a look below...

No more than NeXT/Apple copying the icon dock idea from the early 1980s from Acorn Computers...

The S Launcher is a clone of Microsoft's windows 7 start menu, and the only purpose it serves is to allow windows 7-like start menu functionality on windows 8 devices (where the start menu has been removed in favor of the much disliked "dont-call-it-metro" start screen). as far as the dock aspect and transparency, companies have been aping that from apple for years so I dont know where you have all been

Samsung have no right to copy the iPods iPads iPhones and the Mac PCs and laptops. Samsung this has got to stop with the copying it's wrong plus your not allowed to copy any Apple devices at all.

iClarified isn't copying the Apple dock and saying it's their own. Clearly the site's theme is there to pay homage to OS X.

The hell!!?? The dock exist before! The only thing original about apple's mac dock is it's already there when u log in, unlike windows you have to install it! So I wouldn't say it's copying or what coz it's already there it does exist, your only option is with or without a dock that looks like mac.!

The problem is not that they made a launcher its that it acts just like the Mac one.
It even has within 1% the same color and reflection alpha, only the shape deviates on 5% of the circumnavigation.
If that isn't copying what is?

Guys, apart from this article probably being nonsense anyway...don't forget that the dock design was never apple's invention to begin with. Similar looking launchers have been available in some form or another on windows and linux for years before OS X

By your theory, I may as well rip of the Ferrari badge and use it for my upcoming car, after all it's just a badge..............

Ferrari badge is really a "logo". Not just a "badge"

Seriously ? what a stupid comparison....every card brand has a logo, there are a couple more with horses on them (one of which is porsche). Either way, a car badge (which is nothing more than an ornamental depiction of the brand's identity) can't really be compared to a smartphone/tablet with their minimalistic and utilitarian design.
These devices rely on certain standards in design and ergonomics to be accepted by the public. In the old days Nokia didn't go around suing Motorola or Sony Ericsson never sued LG despite having extremely similar models....so why start now ?

So I guess this is what Samsung means when they said they will continue to innovate. Maybe in Korea innovate means copy or steal.

It's got to be a hoax... Come on, not even Samsung can be so stupid, that the have to duplicate everything Apple does! If this really comes from Samsung, they have got to do this, just as a provocation!

Multibillion dollar lawsuit!! This will be entertaining, especially if they get the same judge, I guarantee judge koh may say something like this "ok, excuse my language, but Samsung, are you serious right now!? Case closed, guilty, $5 billion is to be paid within 24 hrs" lol

I think people are missing the point of the article. It's not having a dock, it's making the dock look and function the same as the apple one that matters.

some people / organizations never learn. if you are goiong to steal ,you better add some salt and pepper so its better (btw, that is what Apple did with the iPod)

Except for the fact that (as pointed out by Gizmodo's commenters, is that how you spell that it looks right but spell check is saying it is wrong? ) Apple was not the first to create a dock instead it was Acorn Computer's Arthur OS in 1987 (by the way if you look at Wikipedia dock article then it conflicts with all other information saying the NEXTSTEP operating system was created in 1986 when everywhere else says it was 1988 or later, even Wikipedia's other articles). So research before you believe and repost information. :-)

apple might not have invented but definitely made it popular..and samsung cleary is "inspired" by apple but ashamed of admitting it..personally i'm not a big fan of apple suing for the patents and all since its not healthy for the market and consumer and that doesnt changes the fact that samsung copies stuff not just from apple but from others too..and dude dont always trust wiki anything can be edited over there..

C'mon people!!! Everyone knows that "innovation" is at the heart of this feature ***SARCASM oozing out of my pores***

I don't think anyone is saying "no one except apple can have a launcher" but we are saying that no one can have a launcher with the look and feel that apple has come up with. At this point it wouldn't even be that surprising if the samsung one makes the icons bigger as you mouse over. Regardless of this going to court, the court of public opinion (I think) is starting to turn against samsung.
