Steve Wozniak says he doesn't agree with the verdict a California jury found in favor of Apple during its patent infringement trial with Samsung, according to a Bloomberg report.
"I hate it," Wozniak said when asked about the battle between the companies. "I don't think the decision of California will hold. And I don't agree with it -- very small things I don't really call that innovative.
"I wish everybody would just agree to exchange all the patents and everybody can build the best forms they want to use everybody's technologies."
When asked about what his thoughts on the new iPhone 5, Wozniak said, "I am always excited about every iPhone product because there are always good advances.
"A better quality on the pictures will mean a lot, because when I show people pictures on my iPhone 4 and my Galaxy S III, they always say the Galaxy S III, or even the Motorola Razr, pictures look better."
"I think they took some very important steps. I'd like to get a product, use it myself before I judge it and compare to others. I'd like to have it myself and tell what's good and bad about it."

Love you Woz, but your statement is disappointing and downright strange.
Dozens of companies copy Apple, right down to the way products are PACKAGED, including even the way in which the plastic comes off. THAT's RIGHT.
That's shameful and LAME and why shouldn't Apple try to defend itself. The jury has spoken. The verdict will hold. No Supreme Court will deny the irrefutable facts in this case.

Russelll, with all due respect, if we continue to let Samsung stealing Apple's idea, they will rip off Apple and we will then no longer have these high tech gadgets anymore. Pls rethink again.

How can you come to the conclusion that Woz does not believe in patent laws? In the article there was only 1 sentence where he expressed displeasure with the Apple vs Samsung verdict, "I dont agree with it -- very small things I dont really call that innovative." He felt apple's patents were not that innovative or technologically substantial to deserve protection.

...because he said he'd like it if they all just gave up on patents, give access to each other, let anyone build anything they want. Did you miss that bit?

While I think Samsung deserved getting put in their place for their blatant rip off of Apple's products, I have to agree with Wozniak in that the race in smartphone devices should be about ideas and not legal arguments. I wish Samsung hadn't forced the issue by refusing to pull what was a clear violation a long time ago, but I'd like to see it all go away now. I'm more impressed with design and quality, something that, while they're improving, Samsung hasn't been showing a lot of.

Apple ripped off others, but you don't mention it. A violation of what? Patents? I didn't know you can patent a rectangle with rounded edges. It isn't a violation if the patent is flawed.

I strongly disagree with Wozniak in his view. If what he believe is true, trademarks and copyright won't exist to protect one's effort of innovation, not to talk about time & money spent. Did he believe stealing is the right thing to do? When Wozniak put out his comment, he should ask himself will he willing to put out all his hard earnings and savings to share with the public just as he had suggested companies should share their patents publicly?

That's why woz is not Steve jobs. He is just an engineer.

as always, woz's engineer/creator mind trumps that of the shameless tycoons exploiting a broken USPTO.
