Microsoft product manager Petr Bobek revealed that Microsoft plans to release Office 2013 for iOS in March, reports The Verge.
Bobek made the comments at a press event in the Czech Republic earlier today.
A press release, seen by The Verge, from Microsoft's Czech Republic team confirms the availability for iOS and Android. "In addition to Windows, Office will be also available on other operating systems, Windows Phone, Windows RT, Mac OS, Android, iOS and Symbian," says Microsoft, while separately noting that there will also be a new version of Office Web Apps too. Office for iPad has long been rumored to be in the works, offering iOS users a way to access Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents from Apple's tablet and phone devices.
Previously, Microsoft denied rumors of the app despite several leaked screenshots.
Well, at this point, it couldn't be any worse. I was more than willing to give the Apple office apps a fair (albeit expensive) chance. Too many incompatibility issues with it, especially considering that those of us in the professional world use Microsoft Office.
I also meant to add that I didn't like the fact that Apple didn't allow for any other cloud service than their own iCloud. Since I use Dropbox, it was a real pain.
Microsoft Office for Mac is WAY better than iWork, and both are available for Apple OS X ;)
So, I really don't see why wouldn't Microsoft Office beat it also on iOS (plus, knowing that coding for iOS is "pretty close" to doing it for OS X)
But, anyway... it's just a matter of time (to compare both trying not to be biased)
