I jailbroke and unlocked my 3G to use on the T-Mobile network and it is working fine. The only thing is that prior to jailbreaking and unlocking it, you were able to send pictures in text messages. Once I unlocked it however, the icon button to "add a picture" into the message no longer appears. Anyone have any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks is advance!

For me changing providers was easy. In Canada there are two providers that have the iPhone Fido and Rogers. I had a Fido iPhone. When I switched my provider to Rogers my iPhone would not work with my new sim card. So I put the Rogers sim in my iPhone and went to the Apple store. I told them that that battery in my phone wasn't working right. They just replaced the whole phone and because they thought it was a Rogers phone because of the sim card I now have a working Rogers iPhone. No unlock required.

Hey Folks, I have an Iphone 3g version 2.2.1 firmware 2.30.03 and a bootversion 5.08 I succesfully jailbreaked and succesfully downgraded the baseband to 2.28.00 Then I installed yellowsn0w to unlock and... it's still locked... have tried it 3 times from beginning to end now, not knowing what I did wrong... anyway my main issue is that my original T-Mobile sim card doesn't work anymore neither! so it's nothing more than a IPod Touch right now... please help!
James - May 2, 2009 at 4:30am
If your not bothered about unlock can't you restore from backup
irvk - April 29, 2009 at 8:02am
I'm new to this. I have both mac & windows vista &iphone 3g. What is the status to jailbreak & unlock with the latest firmware? I'm confused on this & don't want to try anything in case I wreck up my phone. Is a card such as rebel sim better for me? Help!

I have a 2g iphone that was on 2.2.1 and I lowered it to 2.2. It has been jailbroken with quickpwn, and I also put the yellowsn0w app on with Cydia. After cydia installs it, I don't see any new icons. I've tried toggle airplane mode, reboot, etc. After switching to a TMOBILE SIM, THE PHONE BRICKS ITSELF AGAIN WANTING TO CONNECT TO ITUNES. Works fine with ATT sim card, has not detected any other simcard. Help!
James - April 23, 2009 at 1:33pm
As far as I can remember you don't need yellowsn0w with 2g I think you are following 3g guide.Do the jailbreak again but remember to tick activate box.You don't need to restore in iTunes b4 you redo the jailbreak make sure u use the 2g guide
Jazz - April 23, 2009 at 1:42pm
I did but Boo Neuter didn't run, any ideas as to why or how to force it?
JAZZ - April 23, 2009 at 1:47pm
I was able to get Boot to load this time around. However when the iphone comes back on I still get the same message of "Different SIM detected, please connect to itunes"
James - April 23, 2009 at 1:55pm
Are you doing the jailbreak with that sim card installed I think you should do. Try it anyway and remember to tick activate then if that fails start again from the beginning of the how to.
jack - April 20, 2009 at 10:45am
NOTHING WORKS! I cant get my iphoe unlocked! It says i should plug my iphone into itunes, but then itunes says i need to insert a valid sim in order to activate the phone! Its been 3 weeks PLS i need help!
James - April 21, 2009 at 4:09am
Can't you ignore iTunes and go straight to quickpwn and jailbreak and unlock
James - April 21, 2009 at 8:57am
Sorry put the phone in dfu mode then go to quickpwn Google for dfu mode.Ignore iTunes
jack - April 21, 2009 at 10:01am
thanks for the feedback....but when i plug the iphone in my computer, itunes does not even pick up my iphone... i says insert valid sim inorder to activate phone! The features like ipod and wifi was working before, but then i restored the phone inoder to try and get it to work! Now i cant even use those features, as the phone needs to be "activated 1st" driving me INSANE!!!! Do u know if i can take it to a shop in NY to hav it unlocked?
James - April 21, 2009 at 10:21am
Listen try putting the phone in dfu mode then jailbreak using quickpwn u do not need iTunes to unlock if it works then sync with iTunes but do not restore. It should work as long as your 2.2 I think u can buy a turbo sim but check first I live in uk so don't know about my
jack - April 21, 2009 at 10:43am
i did put it in dfu mode, but when i tries to run jailbreak it said i should plug my phone into the computer, and then i couldnt select the type of device i wanted to jailbreak... i trying again now!
James - April 21, 2009 at 10:54am
Try running quickpwn again this time without dfu mode take out of dfu mode by holding power and home till it restarts
jack - April 21, 2009 at 11:10am
Fantastic! The Jailbreak worked! And i hav use of the ipod and other features again!!!! However when i insert my Sim it says NO SIM! U are very helpful! Thanks mate! Im totally rubbish with these things!
James - April 21, 2009 at 11:25am

satz69 - May 10, 2009 at 5:37pm
i have the same problem as Jack. I was able to jailbreak my phone, but when i insert my sim its says NO SERVICE. But if I insert the same sim in another iphone it works. I am also not able to install yellowsnOw on to my iphone, when i try to do it i get the message "Did not find repository The indicated repository could not be found. This could be because you are trying to add a legacy Installer repository (these are not supported). Also, this interface is only capable of working with exact repository URLs. If you host a repository and are having issues please contact tje author of Cydia with any questions you have." kindly guide me through this. thx

does anyone know when is the unlock for baseband 2.30.03 coming?
muholovac - April 12, 2009 at 4:27pm
Everything worked beautifully until I had to reboot my phone; no service, no carrier. After a couple of hours of repeating the process over and over it came back but now I'm afraid to ever reboot it. What do I do? My sim card has pin control and I cant turn it off.
james - April 12, 2009 at 4:37pm
cant you put your sim In another phone and switch off the pin
muholovac - April 12, 2009 at 4:58pm
yah, I tried that but it says its forbidden. Locked by the carrier. I suppose there is no way around that. Why does the Carrier option disappear after rebooting? Is there any way around that?
Manny - April 6, 2009 at 4:12pm

It would be nice if u just came out with a version of pawnage that would enable u to change the baseband for the 3g. It gives you that option on the 2g but not the 3g, which is making this so difficult. i have gone through everything to change this baseband, even downgrade my itunes and restore it through itunes, but it just dowloaded the 2.30.03 baseband and restored the iphone.......So I'm using my 2g, while my 3g is chillin in the box. Help!
Sifo - April 3, 2009 at 6:06pm
Hey Guys we're waiting solve our problems. we have 2,30.03 baseband and we could talk with our iphone 3g when are u gonna pawnned this porblem. i think u can solve easily just do it! :)

michelle - March 25, 2009 at 12:10pm
how did you change your baseband? my is 04.05.04_G. I have my phone already on 2.2 Please help me!
colin_thames - March 25, 2009 at 1:38pm
If you are on 2.2 and haven't upgraded yet then you should be able to pwn your phone, jailbreak it and unlock it. If you've already upgraded to 2.2.1 then the baseband will have upgraded also to 02.30.03 and there's nothing you can do at present. You can still jailbreak it but can't unlock it. You might have some success with some simcard hardware methods, though I tried the x-simcard and it didn't work for me. You'll have to wait for the guys at iphone dev team to do their magic on the next baseband (though with 3.0 around the corner I wonder if they're waiting to get hold of it). I looked around the net and found that it's possible to upgrade to 2.2.1 without upgrading the baseband (modem) if you have a PC. I had already used Quickpwn on my PC and unlocked the phone. If you Google for "Custom ipsw 2.2.1" you'll find a instructions and a download link from coderetard for a file that someone has kindly prepared using Pwnage on a Mac. You can then jailbreak and upgrade to 2.2.1 without upgrading the baseband. This allows you to use yellowsn0w (again) and unlock the phone. Worked a treat for me. Hope that helps
michelle - March 25, 2009 at 3:30pm
Colin Thank you so much for your reply. I will try to do via custom ipsw 2.2.1. I have now firmware 2.2 and baseband 04.05.04_G. I have upgraded to 2.2.1 via itunes and then I downgraded the firmware to 2.2 but the baseband didn't change. My phone is now jailbraked but not unlocked. I will try to do this different method, so far thank you for answering me since no one ever did. :)
Anicia - March 26, 2009 at 4:55pm
That sounds like you have a 2G phone (the one with the metal backing) SO you don't need to do it this way and your baseband doesn't matter. AND you can't change a baseband anyway
MICHELLE - March 31, 2009 at 5:09pm
that's what I guessed, but in the end I can't unlock, I read all the tutorials, I tried every way, it is just very hard to figure out which way to unlock, and I did everything that everyone does, i don't know if my phone is damaged or what. Thanks anyway
dhirajmahle - March 24, 2009 at 4:10am
I have upgrade to 2.2.1 and baseband 0.30. I used Quick-PWN to unlock my phone. I want to use 2.2 firmware so that i can make or receive calls. Therefore, i need to downgrade the baseband and firmware version. Is there any method? please show me the way. I am using window XP. Thank you Please mail me :
Anicia Ivey
Anicia Ivey - March 26, 2009 at 4:57pm
you can't downgrade a baseband. ou'll have to wait until the Dev Team releases an unlock for the 02.30 baseband
YC - March 23, 2009 at 10:05am
Is the unlcok sofware will available for iphone 3g firmware version 2.2.1 and baseband 0.30 in future?
YC - March 23, 2009 at 10:03am
Is there the unlock software will available for firmware version 2.2.1 and baseband 0.30 iphone 3g?
nicelys - April 2, 2009 at 5:53am
i think as the iphone works with turbo or rebel sim soon there will be a soft to unlock it. let's continue to hope.
colin_thames - March 21, 2009 at 7:25pm
Thanks guys, a fantastic tutorial to unlocking. I've seen quite a few guides and this is the best. Did it in 10 minutes including jailbreaking my new 3g iPhone. Works now with Orange and 3 Mobile sims, as well as o2 which it was originally locked to. It might be worth reminding people that they need to change their APN settings to get a data connection. The UK network APN settings are all here: Looking forward to a PC version the enables me to upgrade to 2.2.1 But am happy to stick with 2.2 so I don't have to use a Turbo sim (which didn't work).
