The iPhone Dev-Team has released yellowsn0w v0.9.6 which should fix 'EVEN MORE' problems that users may have experienced when unlocking their iPhone 3G. This new version is said to eliminate the need for switching AirPlane mode on and off to find service.
The iPhone Dev-Team is also using http://report.yellowsn0w.com/ to track the success rate of the iPhone unlock. You can submit your own unlock experience at http://report.yellowsn0w.com/submit.php to help them update and improve the yellowsn0w application for other users.
If you would like to learn how to unlock your iPhone you can use the tutorial located here

Thank you so much and GREAT JOB Dev Team!!! Just one problem with my Iphone 3G though. I updated yellowsn0w .9.6 and it works great for like about 1 minute but then I lose signal. I am using AT&T, I rebot my phone and it works for some time less than 5minutes and then no signal.
Thank you for your hard work!!!

Question? When they released the JB for 2.2 they said don't use quikpwn if you want to unlock in the future as it updates the baseband. Does Yellowsnow work with the updated baseband? I thought i saw it where it did.
So does this mean that we can jb for 2.2 fw and still unlock with yellowsno now?
Please reply and thanks in advance.

yellowsn0w works with the new "updated" baseband on the 2.2 firmware.

For yellowsn0w to work you need to be using the 02.28.0 baseband. which is in the latest iPhone firmware update 2.2. So just update even with Apple iTunes then jailbreak again with QiuckPwn then install yellowsn0w 0.9.6 n voila!

Yes, Yellowsn0w is for FW 2.2 and the latest baseband 02.28 only
