A Korea based media report says that Apple has likely cut Samsung Display as a supplier for 2013 since it has yet to send a request for quotation (RFQ) to the company.

DigiTimes notes that, The report speculated that because Samsung has yet to receive Apple's RFQ, it will no longer be considered for providing panels to Apple in 2013, most notably for iPad and iPad mini products. Instead, LG Display, Sharp, Japan Display and AU Optronics (AUO) are expected to land most of Apple's iPad and iPad mini panel orders.

The move is likely due to the growing rift between the companies who are battling each other in courts around the globe. Observers say that the shift away from Samsung Display began last year with Samsung only responsible for producing 0.8 million panels each month for the iPad; whereas, LG Display has been producing about 2 million each month. It's expected that LG's production will climb even higher when a new iPad is introduced and Samsung's is expected to drop to zero.
