As is described, this is a well-known exploit; a lot of people care about Glass for some reason, so a lot of people are writing articles about it; personally, I think Glass is pretty stupid.
My users (on iOS) use the language "jailbreak" for the process of using an exploit to get root access on a device so you can modify the software it is running: that's what a jailbreak does. If I use the term "rooted", people won't know what I mean. This is like insisting that you use a French word for something people in America call a potato, just because that potato came from France. If I am going to communicate with my users on my Twitter account, of course I should use the word "jailbreak", or no one will have no clue what I mean. That said, seriously? If someone says "rooted" on iOS I don't care: that's a valid term for what happened. If anything, jailbreak is a more specific concept that Android users should be using more often, because way too many of them seem to not realize the difference between "this device was designed by the manufacturer in a way that lets the user get complete control over it" and "this device required an exploit to break out of the security model to take control" :(.
Rooted, jailbroken, who cares what it's called. The fact that someone insists to call it one or the other is amazing since both mean the ( basically ) same thing.
Saurik has done great things for iPhone owners and Apple too, since many cydia app concepts have been copied into new versions of iOS without credit being given to the cydia developers. He also maintains the cydia store that allows jailbreakers to do the things jailbreaking was meant to do.
Thanks Saurik. Keep up the good work
Unfortunately , no one knows who you are speaking to, Saurik, or one of the people commenting. BTW anger is usually a sign of confusion. Do your research so you will not be confused or confusing to others !
This is not true. It could, however, mess up but not cltmoepely ruin the device. If you want to restore the device first, in iTunes on the summary page of the device (it must be plugged in), there should be a button that says "Restore". Just click that and it'll go back to being un-jailbroken.
