iPhone Dev-Team Addresses 3.1 Jailbreak Problems

The iPhone Dev-Team has posted some updates to their release of PwnageTool 3.1 for the iPhone 2G and 3G.

Unlocked users on the 3G will probably notice that the name and/or logo of their carrier is missing, but they still have full bars and a signal. So far this seems to be purely a cosmetic issue and it doesn’t impact your signal or coverage. We hope to have this issue “fixed” when we release the 3GS compatible version of PwnageTool.

As of 3.1, the *.ipcc carrier bundles are signed, and you can no longer force tethering capability simply by crafting your own bundle. The good news is this obstacle can probably be overcome by virtue of the jailbreak. But so far that extra hack is not part of the PwnageTool custom IPSW creation.

i am trying to jailbreak my iphone 3gs running on 3.0.1 using redsnow but every time it says unable to recognise ipsw firmware wat do i do?

i upgraded 2 the 3.1 firmware about a week ago on my 2g iphone and then i tried 2 download a app off of cydia and when it restarts the phone just stays on the apple logo and my computer doesnt recognize the iphone or anything. i had 2 downgrade back to 3.0.1 and it worked normally. did any 1 else have this problem?? i tried upgrading twice and the same thing when i tried 2 download something

My friend was on the 3.0 firmware with an unlocked 3g iphone for unofficial network but apparently he made the misteake of clicking update to the 3.1 on itunes. So the entire update went through. He wants to know if there is anyway he can unlockhe 3g phone to use it like he was before??? Any help/advice??

If you don't want to install a whole prefs app, use MakeItMine. Just search it in Cydia. Mine says "Not AT&T".

With Supreme Preferences 3.0 you can add the name of the carrier.

i like it better looks more clean i still can se if i have 2g or 3g and the bars is there :D
