Who needs a headphone jack ffs it's 2016 we don't need old technology on a new phone. Lightning port is the way forward or Bluetooth 4.0..
What a GREAT question - January 11, 2016 at 3:57pm
Gee, maybe because all phone companies build phones differently and if you think about how removable batteries achieve it. Did I forget to mention most 6s tests actually prove them to be waterproof? No seriously.

Lels..... If Sony can waterproof their phones even with headphone jack intact how come apple fails?
This may be good new from what I'm about to mention - January 9, 2016 at 3:57am
Did y'all know that there is an actual petition for Apple to not remove the headphone jack? Over 217,000 have signed it so far and so have I. action.sumofus.org/a/iphone-headphone-jack/

I use my headphones every day. It would be great if they were wireless, but what happens when the batteries in the headphones die? I hope they figure that one out. I also hope the headphones don't have the stupid beats logo.

To kloquewerk, how about car chargers and external batteries? Can't use them the same time as headphones.

Yeah, more forced adoption! Also... great to see Apple splintering its brand and product lineup. Beats headphones? Great! They'll interact with your new iPhone 7 using Cirrus technology and a new Lightning-connected EarPod that will not fit any other device on earth, and which you cannot replace without buying from Apple. Jobs would be spinning in his grave - his belovedly simple, focused company is becoming Microsoft (during the late 1990s). Tim Cook is ruining Apple.
Really? - January 8, 2016 at 11:15pm
There's always a reason to eliminate something that helps move on to being wireless. It was necessary to get rid of the optical drive and even I was okay with that, but to just go ape shit over removed headphone jack? Just keep the iPhone with 2gb ram you have, not to mention upcoming 6c and 5s, but let's not also forget the one article here saying Jobs may have liked the beats acquisition but if you're going to say anything or complain about it, I'd suggest finding that article yourself and telling what you wanna say to them. Jobs wouldn't spin and Tim isn't ruining the company he's kept alive for 5 years now!

I'm fine with the removal of the headphone jack. There will most likely be a lightning to 3.5mm headphone jack accessory anyways so I don't see the need to worry.

I hate adapters and I hate proprietary solutions replacing broadly accepted and perfectly well working standards. I will NEVER buy a phone without a headphone jack anymore. After a painful experience with a samsung dumbphone of yore I never bought any other phone with non-standard jacks. Not from samsung nor Nokia nor will I buy one from Apple.

I rather have a shatter proof digitizer than a waterproof phone.

No more support for older cars that have rc plugs in them. Or older stereo receivers that olny have rca plugs. However you can buy bluetooth to rca
