Netflix Moves From Star Rating System to Thumbs-up and Thumbs-down [Video]

Netflix has announced a move from a star based rating system to a simple thumbs-up and thumbs-down.
A thumbs-up tells Netflix that you like something and want to see similar suggestions. A thumbs-down lets us know you aren’t interested in watching that title and we should stop suggesting it to you. You can still search for it, but we’ve heard what you were trying to tell us -- you aren’t a fan -- and it will no longer show up on your homepage.
The star rating that was previously shown next to each title is being replaced with a personalized % Match score. The score is a prediction of how much Netflix thinks you will enjoy the show based on your unique tastes. It is not a measure of overall popularity across the service.
The company notes that many users were confused by the star rating believing it was a overall average like on ecommerce sites rather than a personalized prediction of how much a user might like a show/movie.
