Apple has released a lighthearted new ad called "Outrun," using a high-stakes chase scene to show how fast and convenient Apple Pay can be when it matters most.
In the spot, a woman is fleeing a giant monster when she's forced to stop for gas. At the station, she runs into an unhelpful attendant who slows things down at the worst possible moment. Instead of searching for a card or digging for cash, she pays instantly with Apple Pay on her iPhone and speeds off before the creature catches up.
The ad underscores that Apple Pay works anywhere contactless payments are accepted, including supermarkets, taxis, and train stations. It arrives as Apple continues to broaden its financial services, following the recent launch of Tap to Pay on iPhone in Singapore. Apple Pay uses the NFC chip in iPhone and Apple Watch to complete secure transactions without sharing actual card numbers with merchants.
