Alleged AirDrop Between Two Jets Flying at Over 35,000 Feet [Video]

Check out this video of a pilot allegedly using AirDrop to transfer an iPhone photo between two jets flying at over 35,000 feet.

We're a bit skeptical that the purported 1000ft plus AirDrop is possible. Take a look at the video below and let us know what you think in the comments! What's the furthest you've managed to AirDrop a file?

Furthermore, if you look at 0:15, the pilot switches one of the communication channels of the plane to data mode, meaning it may create a bridge between both planes. And such comm devices can communicate at thousand of miles...

Effectively the iPhone has only Bluetooth active so, either it's a fake, or there is a Bluetooth to WiFi extender in the cockpit; such a boosted WiFi AP could reach the WiFi of the Singapore Airlines plane at 1000ft (normal separation for two planes going in the same direction), especially at high altitude where propagation is better, with a lot less noise.

From what I'm seeing on his iPhone, he has it on airplane mode and only the Bluetooth is on, therefore AirDrop is using only Bluetooth for the file transfer. I doubt that Bluetooth would work on those distances. This video is likely a joke between the pilots.

"We're a bit skeptical that the purported.." "alleged" -- the article never said it was real.
