Sydney firm Crackatonic Projects has announced version 3.0 of Optimism for Mental Health, its popular wellness planning application. Optimism is a unique software program, designed to help people educate themselves and be proactive in managing their mental health. It is used both in conjunction with health professionals and as a standalone product.
Optimism is powerful for helping a person understand the unique drivers of their mental health. By monitoring patterns in their life they can identify the triggers that cause depressive episodes or a decline in wellbeing. They can also learn the early warning signs of this occurring, and strategies they can employ to remain well or return to good health. Simple charts and reports help to examine relationships and the effectiveness of their strategies. A template is included for the user to develop a personal plan for staying healthy.
Version 3.0 includes many new features and improvements. Some of these are:
Software users can: * Synchronize with the Optimism Online (SaaS) web app, providing access to data online as well as from the desktop * Synchronize with the iPhone app, due to be released shortly * Synchronize with another computer irrespective of operating system * Use the service to make secure, online backups of their records
* A synchronisation function that gives users excellent flexibility in using the software and managing their data * The Notes component located on a new screen, to increase the viewable space for recording text entries each day * A section for short & long term goals added next to the Notes, allowing for an easy comparison of daily entries to objectives * Extra customisable fields added for each of the Stay Well Strategies, Triggers and Symptoms sections * Small changes for improved performance in OS X 10.6
