Family of Japanese-English Kanji Resources

JISHOP Software has launched a line of reliable, accurate Japanese-English electronic dictionaries. The applications are comprehensive, user-friendly tools for learning, quick reference, translation or research. JISHOP amalgamates the best of Japanese-English lexicography and introduces extensive, unique features found in no other dictionary of its kind.

Kanji is what they call beautiful, ancient Chinese characters that are used in the Japanese language. Learning kanji can prove challenging for English speaking students, as the visual elements typically look similar and involve counting character strokes to look up and define.

Development of the JISHOP apps is a tremendous breakthrough for kanji beginners and pros alike who rely on their iDevices. Although JISHOP has been around for years on the Windows and Windows Mobile platforms, this is the developer's debut appearance on the iPhone and iPod touch. Branching out into these venues means that many more users have access to an accurate, thorough and reliable kanji resource.

JISHOP has everything covered in their product releases. The program is an enormous dictionary unlike any other. The extensive kanji information includes definitions, structure, table of radicals and cross-references for forms, variants and synonyms. Each version release has a different amount of content and price.

The first kanji resource that JISHOP Software released for iDevices was the free Concise edition with 1006 kanji. It was followed by the discounted Plus edition, which contains 1945 kanji. The latest release, called JISHOP Advanced is the most comprehensive. With a listing of 4700 kanji, you'd think that the Advanced application is slow and cumbersome. Nothing could be further from the truth. The fully flexible, easy to navigate interface has a powerful search engine that performs searches in seconds.

Searches are done using the original kanji system of six hundred thirty two basic visual elements. Thankfully, with these apps, it is unnecessary to count strokes because they allow users to click on an element to locate it within the dictionary. Finding compound words by their kanji structure, reading or meaning is also fast and easy with these programs. Each kanji is a clickable link, which takes a user directly to the appropriate dictionary entry, where cross-references for forms, variants and synonyms can be found.

JISHOP Features:
* Suitable for beginners or professionals
* Powerful search capabilities

kanji search:
* By elements (up to 4)
* By reading (in kana or romaji)
* By meaning (translation)
* By stroke count

Compound word search:
* By kanji (up to 4)
* By reading - by meaning

* Internal hyperlinks
* Animated stroke order diagrams
* kanji listed: 1006 in the free Concise version; 1945 in the discounted Plus edition; 4700 in the Advanced
* Easy to use interface offers full flexibility
* Information about individual visual elements

The apps have interfaces that are easy to navigate and allow for the adjustment of the search scope, transcription system, entry layout and many other default settings. Users can set things up in a way that works best for them. App shoppers looking for a complete kanji resource can stop hunting. JISHOP is that authoritative and reliable help they need, all in one place.

Pricing and Availability:
JISHOP Advanced 1.10 is only $14.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Reference category. JISHOP Plus is $4.99, JISHOP Concise is free. Promo codes are available for qualified reviewers. Please specify the website or blog you represent when making your request.

Hello iclarified forumers! This application is a total piece of crap in terms of search and more globally in regards of the ergonomy. I even wonder HOW, Apple has accepted its publication on the store!!! To be straight, you better try "Kotoba!' which is FREE and FAR FAR better! Now, if you are a serious learner of even a professional translator here the best combination : Those apps are the references for learning japanese on iphone, in order or excellence : - Japanese 2.1 (codefromjapan) - Shinkanji (Benoit Cerrina) - ikanjitouch (An english guy...) - Accelastudy your_language-japanese.
