A new report from iPhoneSoft claims that Apple will drop support for the iPad 5 and 2015 iPad Pro with the release of iPadOS 17.
Indeed, according to our information (internal source at Apple), the iPad 5 and the first iPad Pro of 2015 will not be able to install the update. Both devices have an A9 and A9X chip, respectively, which puts them out of the running for iPadOS 17. A change that allows for consistency with iPhones compatible with iOS 17.
This rumor corroborates an earlier one from Twitter which claimed the iPad (5th generation), 9.7-in. iPad Pro (1st generation), and 12.9-in. iPad Pro (1st generation) would not support iOS 17.
Notably, there has been a conflicting report that claims iOS 17 will support the same models as iOS 16.
Apple is expected to unveil iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 at WWDC 2023 in June. Please download the iClarified app or follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and RSS for the latest updates.
