New Maps Live Activity Rumored for iOS 17 [Image]

Apple is purportedly planning to introduce a new Live Activity for Maps in iOS 17, according to leaker 941.

In a tweet today, 941 said the Live Activity was 'confirmed' for iOS 17 and would appear on the Lock Screen for all iPhones.

Love it or don't, Apple doesn't care - this is the new Maps "Live Activity" for Lock Screen (all iPhones).
● Seamless transition when unlocking.
● View notifications over the map by swiping up as usual.
● Shows most Lock Screen elements until unlocked (except widgets afaik).


941 also heard that you can minimize the map to the size of the music player on the Lock Screen and re-maximize by tapping the activity.

When asked how interactive the map would be, the leaker responded saying:

You can still move the map around but to go to main app you either have to 1. Unlock using home swipe or 2a. Tap map or 2b. long press on the map itself. Probably gonna be a long press. But both are being experimented with.
