If you want help with the issue, you should probably give a slightly more detailed description as to the problem :P

I can't install it from the installer. Now I have the fring.app, but I don't know how to install it manually. Bummer.

Had problems installing - I originally tried from school, from which fring is for some reason blocked. Slightly stupid. Had to reboot after adding the source before it showed up as a category.

I can't get them to do anything however, like you I can ask. Hopefully they will listen.

@ DT:
get them to enable multiple codecs, as different SIP providers use different codecs.
G729a
G726
G711
GSM

VOIP SIP will not work over EDGE in this version.
Just confirmed it.

The MSN feature (the only I tried) spam text after the sent message and change the Personal Message (the one that appear after your name on peoples Contact window) to a web site link without notify you, I found it very disappointing but other than that the program worked very well.

@Steve,
Have some cheese with your whine.
Now. MSN, not Fring is responsible for the way contacts are maintained. If you have an issue, go to MSN, and then STFU.
What I would like Fring to try and do is to make an attempt for a VoIP call over EDGE. For the most part EDGE should be able to carry a VoIP call. The quality might not be that great but at least it will still work. I would like to see them try this.

fring is not compliant with my voip SIP provider.
furthermore, it is unclear which codecs fring supports. I tried all 4:
g729, g726, g711, and uncompressed gsm.
it initiates call, and hangs. app crashes a lot.
would like to see some error-handling support, and an advanced menu to manage proxy port, nat translation, invites, and codecs.
in theory, this is a really cool app that fring could even charge a reasonable fee for.
lets get this thing fully baked.

First of all, @Steve: stop being such a lame spammer - make a single post with whatever it is you want to say and then, quite frankly, shut up if you have nothing new to say!
To all: bear in mind this is a pre-release version, and has a good number of bugs. For instance, I have all my MSN deleted contacts still there (as others have pointed out). However, testing something out is what helps this to be improved. So, use it - this is a really great app - and send your bug reports to them...
Another obs: apparently it doesn't work over EDGE - only over wi-fi - can anyone else confirm/deny that?

they really are looking for our feedback...
Gil Regev, Online Marketing Coordinator for fring, told us During this R&D period, well be listening to feedback, so we can fine tune the final version and create a truly kicking user experience for iPhone users, so your feedback (in case you have an iPhone) is really important from us.
Regevs comments bring up an interesting point: some developers are now using the jailbreak community as a free beta test-bed for applications that are planned for distribution through the official AppStore. Though there are minor framework differences between the unofficial toolchain and Apples own, most applications are easily ported to the official scheme.

@steve, this is a preliminary beta release. They are looking for feedback from users. You can send your comments to fringcubator@fring.com. The official version is supposed to launch in the fall I believe
