Acqualia has announced the release and immediate availability of Soulver 2.0, a major update to its groundbreaking multi-line calculator for Mac OS X. Soulver is a new approach to doing quick calculations on computers. Instead of mimicking a traditional calculator, Soulver lets you play around with numbers as text, displaying your answers alongside as you type. Because Soulver allows you to use words alongside your numbers, it's a quick way to add things up and comparing different "what if" scenarios line by line.

Soulver is designed for everyone, for day-to-day sums and calculations, to do complex mathematics in different bases. As such, Soulver includes all the standard mathematical functions, supports very large numbers, and has support for hex and binary calculations. When you're finished, you can save and print out your work.


Version 2.0 is the biggest update to Soulver to date, bringing with it some of the most highly requested features. It brings new support for currency conversions, a set of new easy percentage operations, support for international stocks, smart syntax coloring, and answer tokens to connect lines together and build reusable calculations.

Soulver can be downloaded for a free trial, and costs $24.95 (USD) to buy. Existing Soulver owners can upgrade to 2.0 for $12.95. Anyone who purchased Soulver 1 in 2010 receives a free upgrade. Soulver is also available for the iPad and the iPhone.
