A new leak purports to show the battery for Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 Air, revealing an unbelievably thin component that measures just 2.49mm thick. The images, shared by leaker yeux1122 on Naver, show the super-slim battery next to a thicker one said to be for the standard iPhone 17 Pro.
This isn't the first we've heard about the iPhone 17 Air's battery from this source. A previous leak from yeux1122 in May pointed to a 2800mAh cell for the phone's 5.5mm design. That super-slim build, which some have called "scary thin" in hands-on videos with dummy units, has reportedly led Apple to develop a dedicated battery case to offset the smaller battery.
The new images show a battery with a metal casing that is significantly thinner than the component intended for the Pro model. The thin design is expected to be a major selling point for the iPhone 17 Air, which is rumored to replace the Plus model in Apple's 2025 lineup. Apple is expected to unveil its new iPhone 17 models in the fall.
