Google released a new installment in its "Best Phones Forever" ad campaign today, teaming up with the film Wicked to highlight the Pixel's history of AI features. The video features the iPhone and Pixel dressed as the characters Glinda and Elphaba, trading compliments that double as subtle digs at Apple's feature roadmap.
In the spot, the iPhone tells the Pixel, "You've always inspired me," before listing several capabilities the Google device offered first. The iPhone specifically mentions "fixing photos, screening calls," and "building an AI assistant you can have real conversations with." This dialogue targets the current state of smartphone AI, where Apple is still working to roll out its most advanced tools. While Apple Intelligence features like Live Translation arrived with iOS 26, the company's major conversational overhaul for Siri was reportedly delayed until 2026.
The ad ends with the phones singing a parody of the song "For Good," with lyrics tweaked to reference technology. It closes with the iPhone admitting, "I have been changed... for good," followed by a promotion for the Pixel 10 Pro.
